Popochiu 2.0.2
You might have noticed that Christmas came and went without a Popochiu release! Well, believe it or not, that was on purpose — because seriously, who pays attention to a game engine release while unwrapping gifts, singing carols, and trying not to pass out from the endless feasts between Christmas dinners and family lunches? 🎄
But now that Christmas is behind us, you’ve got no excuses not to dive back into your game projects! Especially those of you lucky enough to still be on vacation! 😉
And so, here it is: Popochiu 2.0.2! Packed with even more polish and bug fixes, all thanks to some dedicated contributors. Let us thank @edmundito , @eL-Falso and @Tootle for their work on this release! Happy game-making! 🎉
🔧 Fixes
- No more errors when activating the plugin in a new project. And no need to restart Godot to make it work. No, really, it’s over! @carenalga had to dress like a GhostBuster to squash that one, but hey, we’re talking @carenalga. Should I say more?
- Addressed some corner-cases with getting props in a room.
- Walk-to point is now correctly saved in savegames and, with it, even other metadata that was previously ignored.
- The character is now keeping the right facing direction when it’s already in the walk-to position of a clickable. Thanks @Tootle for noticing and analyzing the problem.
- @eL-Falso fixed a regression that was causing the gibberish text option to be ignored. 👏
- BenjaTK helped us identify a corner-case with above-character dialogues. Now the text is centered when colored. 👏
- @Tootle fixed a behavior of the Simple Click GUI inventory bar, that was playing close animation twice if click it fast multiple times. 👏
- Some warnings removal buy @Tootle and typo fixing by @edmundito. 👏
🚀 Improvements
@Tootle sent a good amount of changes to the character walking logic to improve it:
- The character direction selection on diagonals (up-left, down-right, etc) when the character only has four directions available, should now feel more natural.
- The selection direction and walking animation routine has been optimized and improved in performance.
- The function that closes the save and load popup was invoked twice and that was triggering a useless double save. This is no more the case and the code is cleaner.
This is everything for 2.0.2.
Approaching Christmas was taxing for everyone and we’ve unable to do more. We aim to a new release in early January with some more polishing, more documentation and hopefully, some new features.
